Task 1: Prototype Design

For this task, we had to create a digital cv/resume using either Adobe XD or Figma. I chose the latter. We were supposed to keep it simple since it is a resume and we have to actually code it in Project 2, but I still wanted to incorporate some nice design elements so it wouldn't be too boring.

I also made sure to use only a few fonts and fix the aesthetic. It also just makes sure the viewers know they're still on the same webpage, as they can make connections between each portion of text easier if they look more similar.

Fig. 2.2. Creating a working mail:to link (14/12/2023)

This was something we learnt during class: how to create a working mail:to link that would open the mail app when clicked. It's handy, and something I wanted to incorporate into my final design.

REFLECTIONS

Experience
This was actually quite fun to do. It was nice to create a layout for something like this and be able to put in design choices that I personally enjoy since it is my resume. It helped showcase my character and also my vibe as a designer. Using Figma was a new experience too. It may be similar to Adobe Illustrator, but it is still a new interface at the end of the day, but it wasn't too difficult to learn and use. The layers were easy to manage which I appreciate because of how many elements there are to take care of.

Observations
Before this, I did not have any experience with creating a digital resume, so I didn't know where to start. But after looking for examples online, I learnt that there are a lot of formats. Again, since it is a personal resume, you can design it however you want and be able to showcase yourself as a person and as a worker to make an even better on your employer. In my own class and even among my own friend group, there were a lot of different designs and it just shows how creative people can be to express themselves.

Findings
I may need to be more careful next time in creating a prototype. I tend to be too ambitious and start planning ideas that are difficult for me to actually execute in code. It may end up being worth it, but I also need to be more careful when there are time restraints involved.
