REFLECTIONS
Experience
Overall I think this was a good experience. Not only
did I gain more insight on how to create an effective website layout, I of
course also learnt how to code my own website. With this came experience with
both Figma and Adobe Dreamweaver.
I'll be taking Immersive Design as my specialisation, which means I may have to end up doing some coding. Even if the coding languages are completely different, I still have some experience. At the very least, experience of reading someone else's code and making changes or following along where I need to.
Observations
There was an exercise we did in class near the
beginning of the semester where we got into groups and were tasked with
designing layouts for different kinds of websites. I learnt that sometimes it
can be easy to accidentally add unnecessary elements or forget important
parts. Like when you focus on one aspect too much and forgo/forget
another.
Findings
Ideation is the first step to design for me, and normally
I would sketch out the more complex ideas. But in this class, we also had to
create a prototype before starting coding. I think that this was useful,
because it helped me figure out where exactly to get started. And also I was
able to properly plan every element I wanted to use so that coding would go
smoother and I wouldn't have to worry about such things as much.
