REFLECTIONS
Experience
This module served to teach me the basics of After Effects by giving me assignments to learn, experiment and gain experience. I learned a lot of new things throughout the module, since for Projects 2 and 4 I tried new things that I needed tutorials for. This means I learnt new tricks, and found videos that I can reference int he future as well. This experience will probably be useful for me in my future modules and even my future career, or even to expand my hobbies if I wish.
I enjoyed the module as it allowed me creative freedom to make videos about things I enjoyed as well. I was able to express myself through my work, which is something that I like. Overall, I enjoyed the module and despite some obstacles, I think it went alright.
Observations
Throughout the module, I got to see my other classmates' projects as well. I saw that they also get to create about things they like, and that we all created pretty different things despite being given the same brief. It just goes to show that people have different interests and thought processes, and this changes the output of our work.
Also, people have different styles, not just in their style or the aesthetic they enjoy but also in the way they do their work. I had a classmate and friend who drew a lot of her assets, while I found most of mine online. It shows that people just have different ways they prefer to do things.
Findings
A final product can differ quite a lot from the initial storyboard. The storyboard is mostly there to plan out ideas, but if new ideas come in or things don't come out as good when being executed, then the final product can be different from the initial storyboard and the initial idea. Also the more I worked on these projects under the same brainstorming --> moodboard --> examples/inspiration --> storyboard formula, the more I got used to it. I do think it is a good way to get my thoughts in order and establish the vibe or idea of the project that I have. It's also good for future me to look back on if I had to set the project aside for a while, so I can remember what I intended. And also so others know what I intend as well.
